HASTINGS COVID-19 Site Visit Policy

Due to the national emergency caused by, and in response to, the Novel Coronavirus/COVID-19, HASTINGS hereby provides the firm’s Site Visit Policy effective 21 March 2020 until further notice.

HASTINGS is committed to the health and safety of our clients, contractors, and team. The following protocol provides guidelines for HASTINGS to continue serving our clients and to uphold the contractual obligations of Construction Administration services.

The following Site Visit Policy is informed by and in accordance with the guidelines, restrictions, and directives issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), state and local public health officials, and government agencies.

  1. On-site visits will be assessed by HASTINGS on a case-by-case basis.
  2. HASTINGS will first exhaust alternative approaches to job site, including:
    1. Asking the General Contractor to send photos of site conditions that require review.
    2. Asking the General Contractor to conduct a virtual walk-through using video recordings, Skype, FaceTime, or similar two-way video conferences to see and assess specific conditions or the general progress of construction as required to complete Payment Application verifications.
    3. Requesting photos or capturing video stills to document specific conditions in question.
    4. Working with General Contractors to think creatively about and agree upon other options as necessary.
  3. When an on-site visit is deemed necessary, HASTINGS personnel will do the following to prepare:
    1. Communicate HASTINGS COVID-19 Site Visit Policy to on-site Project Manager and specialty consultants.
    2. Request, obtain, and familiarize themselves with the General Contractor’s current COVID-19 Job Site Policy.
    3. Prepare themselves with standard Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as well as any additional requirements necessitated by COVID-19 or the General Contractor’s COVID-19 Policy.
    4. Coordinate the timing of on-site visits when most construction personnel have left the job site. In general, this means after 3:30pm.
    5. Self-check for a fever before departing for an on-site visit and expect to be scanned for elevated temperatures before entering a job site. If a fever is detected, no HASTINGS personnel shall enter a job site and shall return home and follow CDC recommendations for their conditions.
  4. While on a job site, HASTINGS personnel will:
    1. Wear one-time-use masks and gloves provided by HASTINGS.
    2. Comply with the CDC and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) job site requirements.
    3. Follow CDC requirements for hygiene and disinfection when leaving a job site. Disinfectant will be provided by HASTINGS.

HASTINGS COVID-19 Site Visit Policy will continue to be updated as new information, guidelines, and directives become available.
