We’re proud to share that our 2025 Summer Interns have been selected as the winners of the Homes4Homes Housing Honduras Design Charrette.

Organized by Homes4Homes, the competition tasked teams with redesigning the nonprofit’s current housing model to better serve communities in Santa Rita, Honduras.

Our interns were asked to propose a scalable, climate-appropriate housing solution that could be:

Constructed by a small team using only hand tools, within four weeks

Built at or below the current $4,000 budget

Constructed with locally available, sustainable materials

More livable—offering improved comfort, ventilation, and functionality

Safe and secure, providing dignity, privacy, and protection for residents

Our team’s proposal emphasized community integration, environmental resilience, and flexible living space for families of 3–6 people. Thoughtful features included passive cooling strategies, durable materials, and optional add-ons like rainwater collection and outdoor workspaces, tailored to the realities of rural Honduras.

Congratulations to our interns! We can't wait to see this come to life.
