On Friday, November 6th, Metropolitan Nashville Fire Department Headquarters and Fire Station No. 2 celebrated its' groundbreaking.

The Nashville Fire Department Headquarters and Fire Station No. 2 constitute a significant civic investment in the heart of Nashville’s life-safety infrastructure. Conceived as a single flagship building, the project organizes a countywide administrative headquarters and a front-line fire station within an integrated approach. It is the first newly constructed headquarters for the Nashville Fire Department (NFD) in decades and reflects the scale, intensity, and responsibility of one of the busiest fire service jurisdictions in the nation.

The building responds carefully to its prominent site between downtown, Germantown, and the Cumberland River. Adjacent to a future riverfront public park, the project preserves key skyline views and steps down in scale to mediate between civic and neighborhood contexts. Program organization prioritizes emergency response efficiency, supporting clear vehicle movement between First and Second Avenue and addressing site grade changes through thoughtful sectional design.
