Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Chuck moved to Nashville to complete his Business Administration degree at Belmont College. After working ten years in the music business, he decided to pursue a second career and completed his Bachelor of Architecture from The University of Tennessee. This transition aligned with his interest and appreciation for good design that began at an early age with the influence of his father, an architect, and mother, an art educator.

Since joining HASTINGS in 2002, Chuck has worked on a wide variety of project types including office, community, academic, multi-family, and mixed-use. During his tenure at HASTINGS, Chuck has led several landmark office developments in Nashville such as Roundabout Plaza, Suntrust Plaza, 1201 Demonbreun, and Peabody Plaza as well as new corporate headquarters projects for Mars Petcare at Ovation East End and Asurion.  His work on the renovation of the award-winning Franklin Theatre in downtown Franklin helped bring back to life a community centerpiece within a thriving historic main street.

Whether it is leading a historic renovation, detailing the next mixed-use project, or envisioning a master plan, Chuck’s ability to listen and fully understand the unique challenges and opportunities each project presents is critical. This, combined with developing a strong design concept, informs creative and sustainable design solutions that are unique to each client and site.

Chuck is an active member of the American Institute of Architects, Urban Land Institute, Nashville Civic Design Center, Boy Scouts of America, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.  He was involved in the founding of the Urban Design Forum, now known as the Nashville Civic Design Center, and passionate about urban planning issues relative to the trajectory of Nashville’s growth.

Outside the realm of architecture, Chuck enjoys hiking, camping, boating, and water skiing.  And, true to his first passion, still loves live music.
